A magnification of the comedic potential of Scotch myth appeared unusually in Roderick Buchanan’s self-identification as the ‘Unofficial Envoy of the Tartan Army’ performed in 2002 as a clear signal of the absurdity with which he views pretentious national constructions. His ongoing identification of communities, neighbourhoods, teams and individual affiliations and their place in a sometimes-sectarian divided country is unusual for its hard studiousness and wry commentary.
