Irish national goalkeeper Pat Bonner had become internationally famous for saving a penalty against Romania to take Ireland to the Quarter Final of the World Cup in 1990. With a vest painted by Ross Sinclair this photograph announced his debut in New York to an American audience.
Gol! Mark Boote Gallery, New York. In 1993 I was invited by a now defunct exhibition space called the Mark Boote Gallery in New York to take part in their exhibition ‘Gol!’ scheduled for June 1994. They wanted me to make an artwork for an exhibition launched to coincide with the FIFA World Cup coming to the USA.
